Mechanical Lead Charter DRAFT

Time Commitment

  • Leads are expected to contribute on average 10 hours of work per week.

    • This will typically consist of meetings, bay times, design reviews, design work, manufacturing, project management, etc.

    • It won’t make sense to do exactly 10 hours every week. Sometimes there’s a huge push or deadline that requires a 16 hour week, and then you’ll need to do less than 10 hours the following week to catch up on homework. That is fine, as long as you are able to put in the work for the big push weeks and do not consistently do <10 hour weeks.

Weekly Responsibilities

  • The Lead is responsible for defining project scope and deadlines and ensuring their project stays on time. The Lead should analyze what work is remaining versus how much time is remaining to complete it, and gauge their weekly project contributions based on this.

    • The Lead must ensure FinishLine is continuously up to date throughout car development by submitting Change Requests as needed.

    • In the case that a Head or Chief catches an issue within a FinishLine project, it is the project Lead’s responsibility to promptly submit a Change Request to fix the issue.

  • The Lead is responsible for ensuring project team members are making valuable contributions to the team.

    • This involves creating and assigning tasks in FinishLine, providing mentorship and training, and checking in with members to ensure their tasks are completed in a timely manner.
